My Song Is Love Unknown – LSB 430
Lent 5 (Judica/Passion Sunday 1 year and 3 year)
What kind of love does the Father have for us? He sent his Son to die so we would be called children of God (1 John 3:1). This love no one born from Adam can fully understand. This love we know only as we ponder what Jesus Christ has done for us, especially his death in the place of sinners. To defeat the devil for sinners, he is exchanged for a murderer (Barabas). Christ, the Suffering Servant (Isaiah 52–53), came from heaven for this purpose: to die the death of sinners and to be buried in our place. Because he died this death, all Christians rejoice and sing praises since we shall be taken to dwell with our saving God in heaven. Thus we sing of God’s love for us in Christ, now and forevermore.
